Message from the Head of Department
Dear Students, Esteemed Stakeholders, and Respected Visitors,
As the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Balıkesir University's Faculty of Engineering, we operate with the vision of training qualified engineers who will guide the rapidly changing and transforming world of technology. In our academic activities, which we have been conducting since the 2006-2007 academic year, we combine the experience gained from our long history with the dynamism of current technologies. Our department's fundamental mission is to train engineers who possess in-depth theoretical knowledge in the fields of electricity, electronics, and control systems, as well as being able to translate this knowledge into practice, produce innovative solutions, and have a high sense of social responsibility.
At the heart of our educational philosophy is the development of not only our students' technical skills but also their critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. Our curriculum is regularly updated in light of the needs of the sector and global technological developments. In addition to the wide range of courses we offer our undergraduate students, we support interdisciplinary work skills by providing our successful students with the opportunity to obtain a second diploma in a different discipline through the Double Major Program (DMP). Furthermore, through our Master's and Doctoral programs in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, we contribute to the academic world by training researchers and academics who push the boundaries of scientific research.
Our department extends its student-centered approach beyond academic studies, establishing strong ties with industry. Believing that theoretical education should be complemented by field experience, we strive to ensure our students are closely familiar with the sector. In this context, the active work of the IEEE Balıkesir University Student Chapter and our collaborations with industry leaders such as Enerjisa Production offer our students unique opportunities. For example, virtual reality-based technical trainings such as Wind VR, Maneuvering VR, and Measurement Instruments, organized with the support of Enerjisa Production Academy, elevate our students' field awareness to the highest level even before graduation.
Technical trips and seminars, conducted within the framework of our university-industry collaboration vision, are an integral part of our educational program. As seen in our visit to the Balıkesir Organized Industrial Zone Vocational and Technical Education Center, our students gain hands-on experience in pneumatic systems and industrial control elements. Trips to leading organizations allow our students to see production processes firsthand, while professional training sessions on globally used engineering software like E-Plan Electric P8 enhance the competitiveness of our graduates. Furthermore, we blend technical depth with a visionary perspective through thematic presentations such as "The Challenge of Electricity with Geometry" and tutorial training sessions like "Analytical Solutions of Electric Machines" featuring experts in the field.
Our academic vision aims to train engineers who can compete not only locally but also globally. Our commitment to providing education at international standards is supported by our structure that encourages academic exchange programs and multicultural working environments. By fostering a culture of scientific research and innovation, we aim for our students to develop sustainable and ethical solutions to real-world problems. As engineers who are adept at teamwork, possess strong communication skills, and can work harmoniously across different disciplines, we firmly believe that our graduates will make a difference both nationally and internationally.
As the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Balıkesir University, we will continue to stand by our students, in the light of science and at the heart of industry. In our journey to educate leading engineers who are committed to human values, beneficial to society, and inspiring to their environment, we invite all our stakeholders to share this vision. Wishing to build the technologies of the future together.
